2010 Bloggie Awards
I’m not gonna say much here because I’m pretty speechless. So I’ll keep this short and sweet.
Violence UnSilenced is a finalist for Best Community Blog in the 2010 Bloggie awards. It’s a huge honor, and regardless of the outcome of the voting, it’s already a priceless victory in terms of exposure. So many people will learn about VU now.
Most of all, I can’t imagine a more appropriate category.
This site belongs, and has always belonged, to all of us.
Thank you so much.
(and, if you’re so inclined, you can vote here.)
More importantly, please read and support the survivor below this post, and survivors before her, and the many, many survivors to come.

I’m so not even a little bit surprised. You’ve created an amazing, cathartic, powerful, healing space, Maggie. This is so well-deserved.
Congratulations!
This is SO awesome, Maggie! And you’ll like this …
Someone sent me an email thanking me for the VU “ad” on my site. She didn’t know there were so many others out there with stories like hers and may have to share it some day …
I voted. I will vote as many times as they let me.
@Nicole, that is AWESOME. I’m still surprised so few people realize they can (and should) grab the VU badge from the pledge page. I must not be doing a very good marketing job. STEAL THE BADGE, EVERYBODY!
Thanks for letting me know, that means so much.
Congratulations! Your hard work is getting noticed. The bravery of everyone who writes for this blog is getting noticed. Well done.
I just voted… thank you so much for the site and all of the work that goes with it. Thank you for giving a voice to domestic and sexual violence and reminding us all that we are not alone. Thank you for making a difference. May your site finds its way to all who need to hear it.
oh maggie… you know my heart. and in my heart, VU is so very deserving of this award. the more awareness, the more hope in helping and encouraging those who have been silenced.
As I said when I conferred the Order of the Diamond in the Rockpile on VU, it — deserves every bit of credit and recognition that comes its way.
So do you sis.
Much love.
I voted for you. There is no one more deserving. VU is wonderful, amazing, and a lifeline. I am so proud of you, of what you’ve done, all the people you’ve given hope to. I hope you are proud of you too. Keep on rocking, Maggie. Sending you oodles of love and thanks, Susan
I came. I saw. I voted.
Thank you for the important work that you do, Maggie. You’ve made all the difference in the world.
I’m all over it. Congrats!
i am so happy and proud of you and what you’ve sparked for so many women and what you’ve allowed us all to see and feel… that we are together, that we’re not alone.
i’m with MK. i will vote as many times as they will let me.
Thank you guys, seriously. You make it all go around. Otherwise I’d just be one person here, spouting off about DV into an echo chamber. You guys ARE Violence UnSilenced.

Congratulations! I wish VU wasn’t needed in our world, but I am so very thankful it is here.
Congratulations…not the least bit surprised!!
Congratualtions!!!!
What you have done here is amazing. This place is both beautiful and heartwrenching and a true example of the wonders of the internet. Reading these posts have been more healing for me as a fellow survivor than any attempt at therapy. Every single person who has been brave enough to post their story and retake their power and worth has a place in my heart. I sat up all night and read every single one, some were incredibly painful because it hit too close and yet the words gave me pieces of myself back..because in seeing the beauty and strength of the authors, I was seeing myself too.
Someday I hope I can take that gift and give it back by writing my own story because for 13 years I have longed to tell all of it but have never felt safe enough to trust that it would be met with kind words and understanding, that I am not the disgusting acts forced onto me. This place gives me courage to think that maybe I can finally tell it all and the telling will free me from it.
So happy fo ryou and well deserved. I shall go vote right now.
xoxoxo
