Nicole. Just read the basic story. I know what its like! My ex is mostly disabled but he still worked out to hit me. Isnt it wonderful when they buy flowers the next day and theyve told the florist that 'sharrons feeling a bit depressed 2day so i thort i'd cheer her up'? Makes me want to throw up. Ex is disabled but the violence and abuse comes from watching his father do the same thing. They prefer to blame the brain damage than face up to reality. Hes not silly or affected in the ways that his family pretend and meanwhile theres a young girl getting hurt more all the time! She must be just collateral damage! Ps. Youve done a wonderful job with daughter!

Yep - always said I'd never date a cop. Heard too many horror stories and not willing to take the risk.
Police officers and military members have the highest occupational rates of DV out of any other occupation. It's unfortunate and not what many people would expect. But if you think about abuse as being about power and control, it makes sense, as both of these occupations appeal to people that like these things. They also often offer protection from consequences, too.
Your daughter has wisdom beyond her years. Your approach towards getting out was well done, too. Keep healing. Keep growing. Keep spreading the word.
