Please help Violence UnSilenced if you can

I got word this week that Coco nominated Violence UnSilenced for SocialLuxe Lounge’s Most Inspiring Blog. I’m not very good at pimping these kinds of things but when it comes to spreading the word about Violence UnSilenced I swallow hard and I do it so here I am. I know that there are still all kinds of survivors who don’t yet know about what’s going on here, men and women and kids who have stories to tell that will bring healing to themselves and countless unknown others. The winner of Most Inspiring Blog will be recognized at BlogHer — this seems like a fantastic opportunity to reach a whole bunch of people and I’m so grateful to Coco for the nomination.

2009 BlogLuxe Awards

You are allowed to vote once a day every day, and voting closes July 6.

Thanks for considering it, and for your continued support of this site. I’m so proud of all of you and I’m honored to be in your presence.

You’re more than welcome sis. Win, place or show, the people who have shared their stories here deserve this award. They’re an inspiration to us all.

    And so are you kiddo.

You want proof? I know a couple of bloggers who are working this as hard as anybody. I’m sure they’re not alone, they’re just the two I know about. So Amias? Amorous Rocker? You ladies rock. And your efforts are deeply appreciated.

I voted for this site, too. I have been blessed in that I have not had to deal with violence in my life, but I know many who have. This is for them, and for all who are courageous and post their stories here.

    xoxo

  • A word about comments

Please show your support by commenting on each of the survivor stories. I know that sometimes you may be struck speechless, or you may feel that you are repeating yourself on each post -- But for each of these survivors, their one post is everything. They will continue to check it, they will circulate it among friends and family, they will link to it now and in the future. They need to know you are listening to them. That their bravery has not been for nothing. Even if it feels as small as, “Thank you for speaking out,” believe me, it won’t feel small to them.

That said, comment moderation is in place. If this was your average run-of-the-mill personal blog all comments would be allowed freely, but because of the delicate nature of the subject matter and because the contributors are often writing from extraordinarily vulnerable places, any comment deemed non-supportive will be deleted. This is not an open forum or an advocacy site structured for healthy debate. Rather, this is a safe place for survivors to speak out in hopes of enlightening their fellow bloggers.

If you have had a previous comment approved your comments will go through immediately, but still may be subject to removal. Please help maintain a dignified and safe space for the brave post authors.
